Residents enjoy an easy going coastal lifestyle at the relaxed TriCare Cypress Gardens Retirement Community located on a beautiful canal at Clear Island Waters.
With a bursting social calendar each month, there is plenty on offer for residents to take part in should they choose.
Village Manager Tracy Rawlings says there is always a vast array of activities, lunches and outings in any given month.
“Last month we had a number of lunches, BBQ’s, happy hours and a special visit from Mukogawa Japanese school children who sang for the residents, shared some of their craft and practiced their English.”
“This is in addition to our usual busy calendar of activities which includes bingo, various card games, bowls, craft, snooker and movie nights to name a few.”
The Community Centre is the activity hub at TriCare Cypress Gardens where residents can take advantage of the solar-heated outdoor pool, or heated indoor pool with spa. There are weekly aqua aerobics classes along with gentle exercise sessions in the gym.
Each month there are a number of trips on the Village’s community bus to Pacific Fair, Coco’s and Robina shopping centre to make it easier for residents to get out to do their shopping, especially if they no longer drive.
“Our residents still enjoy their independence but can relax knowing that there is always someone about to have a chat with or to assist them when needed,” Mrs Rawlings says.
“Just recently I bumped into two residents who live at each end of our retirement community, at our mail boxes.”
“They hadn’t seen each other in a while so stopped for a chat, and stayed for over half an hour to catch up on each other’s news.”
“That’s what it’s all about. The communal style living a retirement village provides creates a social environment where there is mutual support, understanding, respect, security and a focus on well being.”
“Everyone looks out for each other without the feeling of living in each other’s pockets,” said Mrs Rawlings.
