After 25 years on the tools, TriCare Mt Gravatt Retirement Community’s resident hairdresser, Pat Harvey has hung up her scissors for the last time.
Since 1991, Mrs Harvey has been perming, cutting, colouring, blow drying and styling residents’ hair.
Tammy Watt, Village Manager says Pat Harvey is a much loved member of the TriCare Mt Gravatt community.
“Pat’s retirement marks the end of an era.
She has been here nearly as long as the Village, and after 25 year’s service, we will miss her friendly face and warm conversation,” said Ms Watt.
Having hair dressed since she was 15 years old, Mrs Harvey says her role at Mt Gravatt has been one of her most fulfilling.
“It has been a wonderful experience. I have loved going to work every day and feel so grateful for my time at Mt Gravatt,” said Mrs Harvey.
Clients would never miss their appointment; an opportunity to catch up with Mrs Harvey and share their news.
“One of my clients, who is 101 years old, would make it to her weekly appointment rain, hail or shine.
Residents would go to great lengths to get their hair done, even sneaking in an appointment before they had to go into hospital!” said Mrs Harvey.
Mrs Harvey attended to two regular appointments on her last morning.
One being Mrs Murnane, Mt Gravatt’s longest residing resident who has held a weekly booking with Mrs Harvey since 1992.
These last bookings were not by special arrangement; they were their normal appointment day and times.
