Krista O’Callaghan is no exception. She has been hairdressing for over 25 years and counts her job as TriCare James Ommaney Retirement Community’s onsite hairdresser as one of her most rewarding.
Every Wednesday and Friday you will find a steady stream of clients coming and going from Krista’s salon. Whether it be a perm, wash and blow wave or a simple cut, everyone looks forward to one-on-one time with Krista and her warm conversation.
“It’s important for people to feel good about themselves, no matter what their age.
I look forward to coming into the salon each week and seeing my clients – I really do love my job,” said Mrs O’Callaghan.
Mrs O’Callaghan says for some clients it’s a social outing. They tell her their stories and she knows all about their children, grand children and great grand children.
“One of my oldest clients is 99. She has a regular appointment and I enjoy catching up on all her news each time she comes in.
Many residents don’t have transport or the ability to get to the local hair salon. I am thrilled if I can pamper them a little and make their lives easier,” said Mrs O’Callaghan.
And her skills don’t stop at hairdressing. Mrs O’Callaghan often helps her clients with the odd technology issue or visits them if they haven’t been well. It’s all part of the service.
