Facility Manager Mel Tupou leads a caring team that prides themselves on fostering a welcoming atmosphere. “My role here is to welcome residents who are staying with us on a respite basis, or permanently. During my time here I’ve had the opportunity to welcome residents from many backgrounds and cultures”, Mel says. Mel and her experienced team are also able to provide care in several of our residents’ native languages, including Arabic, Italian, Greek, Nepalese, German, Tongan, Filipino, Serbian, and Vietnamese. As we age, it’s incredibly important to be able to communicate in our first language. This is just one special way that the team at TriCare Annerley make our residents feel at home.
Let the sun shine in
Set in picturesque, landscaped grounds, TriCare Annerley provides beautifully appointed single or double rooms. Each light-filled room features either a balcony, or a view to the garden or courtyard. Importantly, in sub-tropical Brisbane, all rooms include air-conditioning, so our residents can stay comfortable when the city is turning on the sunshine outside. Speaking of lovely weather, TriCare Annerley also boasts some charming, shaded outdoor areas in which residents can take advantage of the fresh air and spend time with visitors or catch up with their neighbours amongst the bright blooms of the poinciana trees.

With a Registered Nurse on site 24 hours a day, and emergency call systems in each room, you can relax in the knowledge that your loved one will always have support at hand whenever it’s needed. Our facility also has regular visits from a range of allied health professionals, including dentists, podiatrists, physiotherapists, and occupational therapists. With pharmacy services just a phone call away, TriCare Annerley staff have their fingers on the pulse of your loved one’s care needs.
Chatty companions
At TriCare Annerley, community connections are part of the package. We take great pride in welcoming volunteers in to spend time with our residents. We are also very pleased to have regular visits from children from the nearby high schools. Our residents always enjoy chatting, playing games and staying in the loop with the younger generation. But that’s not all – TriCare Annerley is also home to some chatty little friends! Our resident parrots provide some welcome pet therapy and are well loved by all. Now that’s a unique talking point!
Getting more out of life
The best Aged Care settings are those that support residents to live life on their terms, for as long as possible. At TriCare Annerley, residents are active participants in planning the Lifestyle Program for the facility. “Our residents have a lot of say in our activity calendar,” says Annerley Facility Manager Mel. “Residents can give us feedback in our monthly meeting on what they want to see more or less of”. Some of the regular activities that our residents love include music and art therapy, garden therapy, craft club, and exercise classes like yoga.
And our residents certainly don’t miss out on celebrations! Staff and residents will often come together to mark favourite calendar milestones. Special days such as Australia Day, Anzac Day, Easter, Christmas, and other important celebrations are always a chance for residents to gather together and enjoy some special food, decorations, activities, and company.
