When Kathy Nanscawen moved back to Melbourne recently after living in northern Victoria for nearly 20 years, she had a list of things she was looking for in a retirement community.
“I wanted to be close to family, transport, shops and live in an established community that had open gardens and space.”
That is exactly what TriCare Hayville Retirement Community in Box Hill South provided, and much more.
Alive with traditional charm and character, TriCare Hayville is an established community with quality built accommodation and beautiful gardens.
When Mrs Nanscawen began looking she visited a number of retirement communities in the area but said that TriCare Hayville ticked all the boxes.
“I was looking for a unit that had a garage, backyard and two bedrooms so I could still have the grandchildren to come and stay.”
“The Village has lovely wide streets and beautiful gardens with walking trails that meander through the avenues and gardens, with plenty of shady areas and seating along the way,” said Mrs Nanscawen.
The Community Centre is the activity hub of the Village holding fortnightly dinners, weekly happy hours and other regular social events throughout the month.
Mrs Nanscawen says there is always so much on offer such as craft, bingo, snooker, tai chi and cards to name a few.
“It’s such a friendly place to live and everyone has been so welcoming to me.”
The Village’s Community Bus takes residents on day trips around Melbourne, to the movies and musical events. It also takes residents in Box Hill, Forest Hill, Bunnings or Kmart for their shopping as well as to the local RSL.
Health and well being is also taken care of with an onsite hairdressing salon and weekly visits from a physiotherapist, doctor and podiatrist.
“Even though I still drive, it’s comforting to know that we have everything on our doorstep, and access to great public transport and fantastic facilities.”
