It was a morning of chic fashion and frivolity when Stafford Lakes Retirement Community hosted its third annual fashion show. On arrival the eighty five guests sipped champagne and nibbled on cheeses while perusing the racks of clothing provided by Brisbane based clothing company, Portofino, designers of apparel specifically made for our warm climate.
While the dining and foyer areas were transformed into an in-vogue designer store, the lounge area became the stage for the fashion show and the setting for an elegant tea party. Platters of beautifully decorated cakes and pastries were made by the caterer, Penelope’s Pantry, and some of the debonair male residents volunteered their time as waiters for the morning.
Stafford Lakes residents Margie, Di, Susan, and Marie and Stafford Lakes hairdresser Yolanda took to the runway and became the catwalk models. They looked amazing in their well-chosen and perfectly fitted outfits and were well supported by their friends in the crowd. The fun continued with door prizes and raffles, and more shopping following the fashion parade.
The morning was an amazing success thanks to the efforts of the enthusiastic members of The Residents Committee and fellow Retirement Community residents, who again worked tirelessly to put on another seamless event full of laughter and fun. It is these occasions that really highlight the vibrant community we have at Stafford Lakes.
