Accounting Manager

TriCare is one of Queensland’s leading providers of retirement communities and aged care facilities, and has been operating for over 50 years.

We are currently recruiting for an Accounting Manager to join the team in a full-time capacity. This role is based at our head office at Mount Gravatt and has an in-office requirement.  The role manages a team of 12 persons.

This exciting opportunity has become available for a well-equipped and experienced accounting manager to help us maintain high standards of financial performance and deliverables.

Key responsibilities for this position include: 

  • Team Management: Manage all accounting functions including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, and payroll.  Develop, coach and grow a team of accounting professionals. Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
  • Budget Preparation: Lead the preparation of budgets. Collaborate with departments to develop budgets and allocate resources effectively.
  • Performance Optimisation: Continuously evaluate and improve accounting processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy. Implement best practices and innovative solutions to drive performance.
  • Reporting and Analysis: Prepare and present detailed financial reports and analysis to senior management. Provide actionable insights to support decision-making.
  • Compliance and Control: Ensure adherence to financial regulations and company policies. Oversee audits and resolve any issues to maintain compliance.

Skills, experience, and attributes necessary for this role include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, with CPA or CA or equivalent qualification preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in a supervisory/managerial position.
  • Proven expertise in delivering financial statements.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and best practices.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
  • Effective management abilities with experience managing and developing teams.
  • Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Epicor is a plus.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritise tasks using critical thinking.
  • Ability to engage with others to understand and embrace company culture, directions, goals and client service ethos.
  • Well-developed communication skills, both written and verbal, including an ability to prepare high level reports to Directors and Executives.
