The spirit of Melbourne’s Spring Racing Carnival came alive at TriCare Williams Landing Aged Care Residence as residents gathered for their own spectacular Oaks Day celebration. The event, which paid homage to the traditional ‘ladies’ day’ of the racing calendar, brought together our Williams Landing community for an afternoon of fashion and friendship.
A parade of elegance
The highlight of the day was undoubtedly our resident fashion parade, where our lovely ladies took to the runway with confidence and style. The display of fashion was nothing short of magnificent, with hats of all shapes, sizes, and colours making their debut on the runway. From classic wide-brimmed beauties adorned with flowers to more contemporary fascinators, each piece told its own story and reflected the unique personality of each of our residents.

What made the event truly special was the incredible atmosphere of support and camaraderie. Residents cheered enthusiastically as each participant took their turn on the runway, creating an environment of warmth and encouragement that exemplifies the Williams Landing community spirit

Armed with ribbons, artificial flowers, feathers, and plenty of imagination, they transformed simple hat bases into stunning racing fashion. The workshop wasn’t just about creating headwear, either – it was filled with laughter, shared stories of past racing carnivals, and the joy of working together on a shared project.
