The holiday season was in full swing at TriCare Aged Care Residences this year! The decorations were up, the social calendar was packed, and the atmosphere was filled with joy and cheer. Residents, staff, family, and friends came together to make the season bright and festive, with handmade decorations, lively carol-singing, and plenty of holiday cheer.
It was a wonderful time of year to connect with loved ones and create new memories.
Deck the halls
The holiday season arrived, and with it, the perfect time to get crafty! Residents at TriCare Aged Care Residences embraced their creative sides, transforming their communities into winter wonderlands. From handmade decorations to DIY projects, the sparkle and shine of Christmas was evident everywhere.
At Jindalee, residents showcased their crafty skills over a glass of bubbles, making Christmas decorations out of paddle pop sticks! Everyone had a lot of fun and the end result was truly magnificent.
And, at Point Vernon, the halls were well and truly decked for the holidays thanks to our crafty residents! During December, the residence held festive craft sessions as well as arranging our Christmas decorations around the garden.
Our Point Vernon residents also enjoyed a festive bus ride to see the local neighbourhood Christmas light displays. From classic fairy lights to dazzling musical light shows, the wonderful displays sparked cheerful conversations and laughter all around!
As the photos show, the residents are thrilled with their creations, and it’s clear that the holiday season has brought out the best in everyone. The joy of crafting and the sense of community that comes with it are truly special, making this a Christmas to remember.
Oh come, all ye faithful
The holiday season is a time for coming together, sharing laughter, and spreading joy, and our residents at our brand new Ashgrove Residence did just that. They busy little elves, sprinkling joy and laughter as they celebrated with a Christmas party to mark the festive season with fellow residents and their loved ones.
And our wonderful residents from Stafford Lakes Retirement Community held their annual Family Carols by Candlelight concert at the Stafford Lakes Aged Care Residence. The Aged Care residents, staff, and family, were treated to a variety of Christmas favourites by the choir of singers from the village. It was such a special night, thanks to the Stafford Lakes Retirement Community Choir for their beautiful voices and Christmas spirit!
It was a packed house for the annual Residents’ Christmas Party at Kawana Waters too! With two parties happening simultaneously, nearly 160 residents came together for a festive feast and celebration. There was lots of chatting and laughter as everyone enjoyed a delicious three course holiday meal prepared by the residence’s talented Chef. After lunch, Santa and his elves stopped by with a sack full of presents for all our residents who made the nice list this year (i.e. everyone)!
Our Upper Mt Gravatt residents were treated to a different Christmas movies every day, and thanks to generous donations from residents, families and staff, they held a fun Christmas raffle, with 4 big raffle prize baskets and 17 consolation baskets for everyone to win!
Do you hear what I hear?
There’s nothing quite like the music of Christmas to transport us back to a time of childhood wonder and joy. And at Jasper, a recent graduate of Centenary State High School came to play the piano for our Jindalee residents. Everyone listened to a Jasper play Christmas songs and even sung along and asked for requests! It was a truly special moment that brought back memories of Christmases past and made new ones for years to come.
Santa’s was also busy making the rounds at Cypress Gardens. Residents were overjoyed to have a visit from Father Christmas, with many stopping him for a photo op and a quick chat about whether they’ve been a good boy or girl. It doesn’t matter what your age is, everyone loves sharing their wish list with Santa!
And our Jindalee residents were delighted to welcome the children from Kuraby Presbyterian Church, who sang Christmas songs and really brought the festive spirit. The children also kindly handed out gifts to each of our residents, warming everyone’s heart!
It was fun for the whole family at Stafford Lakes as they hosted their Family Carols by Candlelight event. Residents and their families were treated to an evening of beautiful music that created the most magical Christmas mood. The choir consisted mostly of residents from Stafford Lakes Retirement Community who performed their repertoire of Christmas classics brilliantly. Everyone in attendance – including those performing – thoroughly enjoyed the show. All this carol-singing certainly lifted everyone’s spirits!
