Love will be in the air this Valentine’s Day at TriCare Runaway Bay Retirement Community when residents get together for a decadent afternoon tea to celebrate the Feast of Saint Valentine.
A love for food that is!
Village Manager, Malcolm Payne, says this is the first time they have celebrated Valentine’s Day in such style.
“Guests will be greeted with a glass of champagne on arrival to accompany the delicious menu, and who knows, I may be convinced to bring out my guitar and play few love songs!” said Mr Payne.
Head chef of TriCare Runaway Bay’s own Companions Restaurant, Jamie Thomas-Davies has created a delicious menu to celebrate the occasion including chocolate dipped strawberries, heart shaped shortbread, red velvet cupcakes and scones, jam and cream.
Since taking up the role of head chef six months ago, Mr Thomas-Davies says he has enjoyed creating celebratory meals for residents which have included Christmas in July, high tea at the Village’s annual ‘Lighting of the tree’, and a community Christmas party for over 200 guests.
“Having worked in aged care and retirement living in the past, I really enjoy the community feel at TriCare Runaway Bay and the way the residents enjoy getting together and celebrating an occasion.
Whilst we only have a small kitchen team at Companions Restaurant, we still have the opportunity to experiment a little, and change the menu to reflect the seasons,” said Mr Thomas-Davies.
Companions Restaurant serves lunch and buffet dinner seven days a week.
