Nestled within lush gardens, Annerley Aged Care Residence is a picturesque hideaway supporting a close-knit community in south Brisbane.

Our homely facility offers cosy classic rooms for singles and couples, which include air-conditioning to keep our residents comfortable no matter the season. Each room opens onto a balcony, garden, or courtyard, allowing lots of natural light in.

Our lifestyle program offers a wide range of activities to keep residents active and engaged, and unique to this facility, is a pet therapy program with our beautiful, colourful parrots.

We provide care for up to 59 residents who enjoy the intimate community feel and personalised care and close interaction with staff. Many staff, including the Facility Manager, have been working at TriCare Annerley Aged Care for many years, strengthening the family atmosphere.

Registered Nurses are on duty 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and our qualified and experienced staff cater for all levels of care including those with complex health requirements. Additionally, our staff can accommodate to some language preferences with Arabic, Italian, Greek, Nepalese, German, Tongan, Filipino, Serbian, and Vietnamese spoken by our diverse team.

Our approach at TriCare Annerley Aged Care is to ensure that residents experience daily opportunities to engage in a stimulating environment and have their own personal areas to relax quietly, while we provide quality care and attention to meet individual needs.

The comfortable lounges are ideal for spending time with family and friends, while the shaded alfresco areas are popular for games and casual meals.

Our enthusiastic Lifestyle Coordinator goes above and beyond to keep you active and healthy, organising a wide variety of activities, including music and art therapy, garden therapy, pet therapy, exercise therapy, yoga, craft club and one-to-one time, while our colourful pet birds are a favourite among our residents.

An aged care home, such as TriCare Annerley, is a supportive community that provides residential accommodation and healthcare services for seniors and individuals who require assistance with daily living due to illness, disability, or frailty. It’s also commonly referred to as an aged care residence, aged care facility, or nursing home.

People may choose to move to an aged care home for various reasons, including illness or disability that makes it difficult to manage daily tasks, an emergency situation that requires immediate support, increasing pressure on family carers, or difficulty managing daily tasks without assistance.

At TriCare Annerley, our residents receive personalised support with daily tasks such as meal preparation and assistance, cleaning and laundry services, personal care including showering, dressing, and grooming, 24-hour nursing care from qualified nursing staff, medication management, continence care, and wound care and treatment.

In addition to these essential services, we offer specialised care and support for complex health conditions, including memory-support care and palliative care. The Australian Government subsidises a range of aged care homes in Australia. This means affordable care and support services can be accessed by those who need it. The subsidies are paid directly to the aged care home.

The amount of funding that a home receives is based on:

an assessment of your care needs by the home (using a tool called the Aged Care Funding Instrument or ACFI)
how much you can afford to contribute to the cost of your care and accommodation (using an income and assets assessment) To get the funding, subsidised aged care homes have to meet Aged Care Quality Standards to ensure quality care and services are provided.

Aged care funding and fees can be complex, but they generally involve a combination of government support and personal contributions. To determine the appropriate fees and funding, residents must undergo a financial assessment. This assessment considers both income and assets, including property, savings, and investments. Here is a breakdown of how it typically works.

Basic Daily Fee: Covers daily living costs such as meals, cleaning, and laundry. It is set at 85% of the single basic age pension rate.
Means-Tested Fee: An additional contribution based on an income and assets assessment. This fee has annual and lifetime caps.
Accommodation Costs: Payment for accommodation can be made as a lump sum (Refundable Accommodation Deposit or RAD), a daily payment (Daily Accommodation Payment or DAP), or a combination of both. Government assistance may be available for eligible individuals

I like TriCare Annerley, my mum likes living there as well… My mother has been diagnosed as having dementia (early stages) with the added complication of severe depression. She has been living there for over 5 months now and I have seen her thrive on the care the nursing staff are giving her. For one, her depression looks like it is lifting. Another reason we feel that she is being looked after is the beautiful happy smiles we get from her when we visit She is content and says she loves the food. If you are looking for a good clean place with friendly staff, by all means, check it out.

Over the past few years, I have had three elderly relatives for whom I am responsible, residing at this facility. The building itself may be old, but what really counts is the level care, safety and respect that residents receive. Being a smaller facility, it has a homely atmosphere.
Over the past year, many upgrades have been made – refits of room built-ins; external upstairs covered veranda; remodelled rear entry and resident lift.
Residents are given a great range of choices in regular outings – restaurant lunch excursions, picnics, cultural event celebrations – even annual visits to the RNA exhibition.

My mother has been living there now for 3 years and she is very happy there. She now 95 as is better now than when she first moved there. On Tuesday they had their Christmas party and had a magician and also a singer for entertainment. It was a lovely evening and a very nice Christmas atmosphere with everyone together. I look forward to the next event there.
