Down a quiet leafy street, west of Brisbane you will find TriCare’s close knit James Ommaney Retirement Community.
Residents are very involved in the day to day goings on at TriCare James Ommaney Retirement Community. One minute they may be welcoming new residents into the Village, the next playing indoor golf or cribbage in the Activities room.
Instrumental in bringing people together at TriCare James Ommaney Retirement Community are residents and social committee members, Val Rees and Honor Congram.
“The aim of James Ommaney’s social committee is to promote interaction between residents by providing stimulating activities that residents will enjoy,” said Mrs Rees.
We have a busy social calendar that includes activities inside and out of the Village. This month we are organising a 2 ½ hour cruise on the Brisbane river for residents. We are lucky enough to have our own mini bus and driver which makes activities easier to co-ordinate and provides us with more options,” said Mrs Rees.
Honor Congram has lived at TriCare James Ommaney Retirement Community for 9 very happy years and believes the activities are important for everyone’s social and mental well being.
“We are a very inclusive community here at James Ommaney and are very conscious of providing interesting activities that both women and men will enjoy.
There is a huge array of weekly activities occurring including craft afternoons, games, concerts, exercise, billiards, swimming club, movie afternoons…..the list goes on,” says Mrs Congram.
