Residents recently enjoyed delicious food, company and entertainment at their annual Christmas in July lunch at TriCare Runaway Bay Retirement Community.
A feast of turkey and ham with all the trimmings was prepared by new chef, Jamie Thomas-Davies and his team, who were given a rousing round of applause at the end of the meal – a definite sign of approval.
Village Manager, Malcolm Payne, says Christmas in July is one of the most popular events on TriCare Runaway Bay’s social calendar with everyone getting involved, residents and staff alike.
“We have a very active social committee here with a range of activities for residents planned every month.
Christmas in July is always a key event on our yearly social calendar with this year’s event attended by 150 residents, family and friends of Runaway Bay.
It’s one of the few occasions where the whole retirement community joins together to share a meal and a great opportunity to catch up, relax and enjoy the moment,” said Mr Payne.
With a menu consisting roast turkey, glazed ham, roast vegetables and greens, finished off with the choice of plum pudding and brandy custard or fruit salad and cream, no one went hungry.
To top off the day, multi talented village manager, Mr Payne pulled out his guitar and sang a few songs for the residents who didn’t want the afternoon to end!
